Today as my husband I and shared communion, we were reading along with Jesus at the last supper described inย Matthew 26. As I was reading aloud, I was thinking how Jesus asked God’s blessing on the bread and thanked Him for the wine. Normally, when we take communion in remembrance of Him, we leave it at just that but today we sought to follow Jesus’ example. We thanked Him for something, for my husband it was thanks for another day to live, but for me it was more profound. I have been on my death bed and I strive to present myself as a living sacrifice through living in obedience in my Christian walk. I want it to show in my lifestyle, so for me to thank Him for breath in my lungs was not enough today! If I were to just be stagnant in my faith, that would show my ungratefulness so God knows I am thankful for the opportunity to wake up every morning because I strive to continually offer my best to Him and others. Today before I took the “wine” (grape juice), I thanked God for more than life, I thanked Him for the opportunity to be a minister of the Gospel without being beheaded. This sounds harsh but reality is harsh.
I have a chance to make a difference and advance the Kingdom of God on earth, to plant seeds and to water, then stand by and pray for growth while there are those with the very desire to do the same yet they must hide underground and have no freedom to even share the Voice of Truth. But it isn’t as simple as fear, because the only real fear they have is the “fear of the Lord.” No, they are not ashamed or afraid to share the Gospel, but they are wise enough to be discreet about it as they reach as far as they can. Here we are though, the modern Christian in the U.S., free to speak, free to share, free to grow.
My husband is called to evangelize, while i’m called to admonish and edify. It may not always be that way, but the majority of the time it is. He plants and I water. God of course is the ONLY one that brings the INCREASE which is that growth that results in fruit bearing. (Keep in mind though, the fruit of the spirit is NOT automatic.)
As I read aloud, I tarried at specific passages, meditating on the words concerning the Garden of Gethsemane, and the arrest that immediately followed. After Jesus and His disciples were in fellowship at the Last Supper, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Here Jesus told them in V.31: “Tonight all of you will desert Me.” He then added: “God will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.”
(I added this to say that the Shepherdโs rod passes over the sheep both to count and to SEPARATE โ Be ye SEPARATE. We are set apart as believers, join-heirs with Christ therefore sheep in the flock).
He went on to tell Peter that he would deny Him three times as well. In the garden, Jesus agonized over the thought of what needed to be done. He prayed: “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from Me. Yet I want Your will, not Mine.” He had asked the disciples to be with Him in prayer and watch, not once BUT three times. The same amount of times Peter was to deny Him, and the same concept of union in the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), and ALL three times He found them sleeping.
Can you imagine that you are agonizing and asking your friends to pray and be watchful, seeking comfort and they can’t even sacrifice some rest to be with you in the time you need compassion most? Jesus sweated BLOOD. Yet even His closest friends could not sacrifice time and effort for Him. He calls us as Christians to do the same daily! Throughout Scripture we are admonished! Considerย Romans 12. Just read the entire passage! Paul writes: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (V.1-2)
Brethren, brothers and sisters in Christ, do you see the evil in the world today? It has reached even greater heights than we publicly knew before. Do you know that this depravity in the open has led others both lost and once found and returning (prodigal children) to Christ?
Look beyond just Charlie Kirk because we all know many attribute this single loss to what is happening. What is happening is beyond a man, it’s beyond you or me. It was a “turning point” for sure, because it takes events such as these to spur revolutions. Change has come because EVIL is being unveiled in a way many never though to see until this. But it has always been there in the shadows. But what does Jesus say inย Luke 8:17: “For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.”
God is using this time when hearts are softened by sympathy, and scales are falling from eyes, to bring the ULTIMATE increase. Every seed sown that has been/or is being washed in the Living Water is now being reaped. This is a time of harvest! This is a time of REVIVAL! Everyone prays for revival, but many failed to count the cost. For revival to happen, minds must be convicted and hearts must be broken. REPENTANCE must be preached!
“No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light.” —ย Luke 8:16
This is the Parable of the Revealed Light as told by Jesus Christ.
This LIGHT cannot be overcome!
Charlie Kirk was a conservative voice, and the loss resulted in prayer rallies. George Floyd was a criminal celebrated as a hero, and the loss resulted in riots. “Woe to those who call good evil, and evil good.”
What have we become? Many have asked.
The question we should be asking is: “Why didn’t we pray in the Garden?”
It is prophesied that we are living in the End Times, but do not “grow weary in well-doing.” This is our chance for renewal and restoration so we can all be “rapture ready.”
I find it interesting how when Jesus questioned His friends in the garden a third time after prayer, it was then Judas and the mob appeared to arrest Him. They were armed swords and clubs.
Whoever is reading this I quoteย Ephesians 6:10-13: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Our battle is a spiritual one, and there is POWER in PRAYER. Prayer will shake the gates of hell, NOT pistols. The demons know and they tremble at the Name of Jesus, “Christ is King!” is our battle cry. Stand steadfast in your faith, all you sinners made saints!
The darkness is afraid of the light, and all Satan can do is intimidate and manipulate.
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” —ย 1 Corinthians 15:57
